Just a few hours ago, a Texas' jury awarded $45.2 million in punitive damages to the parents of a first-grader killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. On Thursday, the same parents were awarded $4.1 million in compensatory damages, bringing the total amount Alex Jones must pay to the tune of $49.3 million dollars.

The controversial conspiracy theorist and founder of the InfoWars podcast was found liable for promoting misinformation about the 2012 Sandy Hook mass school shooting. According to evidence presented in court, Jones concocted a conspiracy theory about the shooting being a plot perpetrated by the US government in order to confiscate Americans' firearms.

During the trial, parents of the victims of the tragic event testified about the nightmare they had to endure when confronted by a mob who thought they were all "paid crisis actors" seeking to undermine their rights to bear arms. Jones, who recognized the gravity of his error in judgment during the trial, acknowledged that while the massacre was real, the whole court proceeding was nothing but a "kangaroo trial" orchestrated by "the forces of Satan," who are no doubt in alliance with the "ChiComs" to bring him down.
