The online Canadian-American magazine Vice obtained close to 300 pages of UFO reports from the Canadian Government. The publication filed freedom of information requests back in April and September of last year with Transport Canada, the government department that oversees aviation. Included in the cache of documents, are nearly a dozen riveting reports of close encounters with unidentified objects the Canadian military had collected and archived for almost two decades.

The totality of the files released paint a vivid picture of high UFO activity over North American skies. While the Canadian military insists they "do not typically investigate sightings of unknown or unexplained phenomena outside the context of investigating credible threats, potential threats, or potential distress in the case of search and rescue," it is worthy to note that Canadian defense agencies heavily coordinate with civilian air transportation authorities to keep them abreast of any anomalies detected over Canadian airspace.

Winnipeg-based researcher Chris Rutkowski - who for the last few decades has been receiving a steady stream of UFO documents from the Canadian military - cites a recent drop in the volume of documents he's received over the last couple of years as a possible indicator that defense institutions in his country are beginning to take the UFO issue more seriously and therefore becoming less willing to share any potentially sensitive UAP information with the public.

Despite the Canadian Government's claims that it does not actively investigates the phenomenon, this newly-released stack of documents shows at least a marginal interest about UAP on their part and is a welcomed surprise to UFO researchers all over the world who arduously fight for more government transparency on the issue. Below, you'll find a link to a PDF containing 290 pages of UFO reports released to Vice.
