The Japanese Defense Minister, Taro Kono, just announced that his agency will begin collecting and analyzing UFO reports gathered from the country's air defense forces and even from the public. During a press conference, Kono disclosed the new protocols to the nation on how they will deal with any unidentified phenomena intruding in their airspace.
From this day forward, the Self-Defense Forces are instructed to document in every possible way, any and all UFO encounters occurring over Nipponese territory. The Japanese government, which made its official position on UFOs public back in 2018, says that while they don't possess any incontrovertible evidence of the existence of UFOs, they want to prepare the nation for any hostile "drone" activity originating from a foreign power.
This important step in Japan's policy towards UFOs comes after the U.S.' own announcement of its creation of a UAP Task Force to investigate aerial phenomena. According to Kono, this action by the United States greatly influenced his decision to establish a tracking system to spot anything out of the ordinary flying about.
While the standing order is to monitor, record, and report any unusual activity, there is no protocol on how to engage UAPs once they are detected. In a written response from the Japanese cabinet to lawmakers, the government acknowledged that they are not clear on what course of action to take once a UFO is detected "flying towards Japan."
