Members of the House Oversight Committee are set to receive a classified briefing on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), commonly known as UFOs. This development underscores the growing congressional interest in the subject, with a faction of lawmakers advocating for increased government transparency regarding UFO-related matters. The exclusive briefing, organized by the Office of Inspector General of the Intelligence Community, is scheduled to take place in the Office of House Security.

The initiative stems from a bipartisan effort led by Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) and other Oversight Committee members, who, in August, sent a letter to the intelligence community inspector general seeking more information on UFOs, including details on any programs related to reverse engineering or the recovery of crashed UFOs. This heightened attention to UFOs follows previous testimony from former intelligence official David Grusch, who claimed the government possessed "nonhuman biologics" from a recovered UFO, prompting the formation of a Congressional UAP Caucus by lawmakers involved in the inquiry.
